Prairie School District (272).
Eden Prairie Schools are outstanding. Eden Prairie School District
272 was awarded the
"What Parents Want" Award by SchoolMatch, an independent nationwide
organization.
The Eden Prairie School District is a recognized leader in
Minneapolis and the State of Minnesota. Serving more than 10,000 students in eight
schools. In 2002, 99 percent of seniors graduated and 95 percent went on
to two or four year college.
Residents in the northwestern portion of Eden Prairie are served by
Minnetonka Public School District (276),and in the northeast corner by
Hopkins School District (270).
Exceptional Quality of Life
Eden Prairie is known for its attractive residential neighborhoods,
which are connected by more that 70 miles of multi-use trails and
surrounded by 2,250 acres of parks and 1,300 acres of preserved for open
space.
The Eden Prairie Community Center is one of the finest in
Minneapolis and its suburbs. It houses an indoor swimming pool, racquetball courts,
exercise and weight training facility, indoor skating rink and a
six-lane pool.
The Eden Prairie amphitheater is the site for concerts and plays
throughout the summer.
There are many sports leagues for children and adults and two golf
courses. Flying Cloud regional airport is on the south side of
the city and includes a World War II aircraft museum.
"Silicon Prairie"
In 2000, Best Buy Corp., one of Eden Prairie's largest employers,
announced it was moving its international headquarters to Richfield.
CEO's from technology companies, including ADC Telecommunications,
Agiliti, AVI Systems, S&W Plastics, met to discuss keeping Eden
Prairie a high-tech haven.
Many of the CEO's and their employees live in Eden Prairie, attracted
by its top-notch schools and quality of life.
The initials discussions of the CEO's evolved into an organization
called Habitat
for Technology. It's goals are to encourage the development and growth of technology businesses
in the Eden Prairie and to create learning opportunities for Eden Prairie students and
educators by connecting them with technology companies.
